Der uns bekannte Spitzenahn der städtischen Linie, Uberto Visconti (+ 1249) hinterließ die Söhne Azzone, Andreotto und Obizzo. Azzone, zuerst Kanoniker der Kathedrale, wurde Bischof von Ventimiglia (1251-1262); Obizzo, Consul iustitiae in Mailand (1263), wird 1258-1259 unter den Capitanen und Valvassoren genannt. Auch Erzbischof Ottone, dem der Aufstieg der Familie zu verdanken ist, war wahrscheinlich ein Sohn Ubertos, da er als Großonkel Matteos I. Visconti bezeichnet wird.
